This project was about challenging conceptions of the role of the car in the city. When parked, rather than just being a block of private space, why can’t a car shape urban space in a more creative and visceral way? On a very tight linear urban sight in Copenhagen, Denmark, I sought to give a walking space definition, by using the parked cars on either side.

I used parametric design to develop the geometry. The cars rotate between being perpendicular and parallel to the road, the spaces also raise and drop to shape views to the surrounding site, and provide space for seating. I developed the design as a precast concrete structure that slots together like a jigsaw puzzle.
